2026-27 Patriot League Top 10 Players: Alvey, Alekseyenko and the Race for No. 1

2026-27 Patriot League Top 10 Players

Hank Alvey and Andrew Alekseyenko start the season as the Patriot League's most compelling individual players, but American's returning wings could shape the championship race just as much. MMH's list blends demonstrated production, expected role and the importance of each player to his team's outlook. It is an editorial preseason ranking, not a computed player model.

1. Hank Alvey — Lehigh

Statistical context: 15.2 PPG, 7.1 RPG, 1.8 BPG; 62.4% FG.

A legitimate two-way centerpiece. His efficiency and rim protection travel in a league where few teams have comparable size. The challenge is sustaining that production when defenses overload his touches.

2. Andrew Alekseyenko — Colgate

Statistical context: 14.8 PPG, 6.7 RPG, 2.4 APG; 38.3% 3PT.

The most versatile high-end scorer in the league. His ability to finish inside and make threes changes how opponents defend Colgate, although the Raiders need new guards to create clean touches.

3. Madden Collins — American

Statistical context: 13.4 PPG, 4.8 RPG, 2.0 APG, 1.3 SPG.

A young wing with a strong scoring foundation and the opportunity to make a second-year leap. Better shot selection could make him the key difference between American’s 9-9 finish and a title.

4. Greg Jones — American

Statistical context: 12.5 PPG, 4.8 RPG, 2.0 APG, 1.0 SPG.

The league’s preseason defensive player of the year is more than a stopper. His ability to cover difficult matchups and contribute offensively gives American lineup flexibility.

5. Kyrone Alexander — Boston University

Statistical context: 12.9 PPG, 5.1 RPG in 2024-25.

A veteran scoring wing whose previous all-league form gives BU a potential top-four anchor. His 2024-25 averages should not be presented as last season’s figures.

6. Ryan Curry — Army

Statistical context: Blue Ribbon preseason all-conference selection.

A veteran guard who will carry a heavy organizational and scoring burden. Army needs his experience to lift the rest of the perimeter rotation.

7. Josh Ahayere — Colgate

Statistical context: Returning guard; 2026-27 roster confirmed.

A key perimeter piece in Colgate’s attempt to replace Jalen Cox’s creation. His value is likely to be as much about ball security and defensive matchups as points.

8. Parker Jones — Colgate

Statistical context: Returning after missing 2025-26; started 31 games in 2024-25.

A high-upside returner whose size on the perimeter could give Colgate a different look. The missed season creates an uncertainty that should be reflected in any projection.

9. Kade Sebastian — American

Statistical context: 5.7 PPG, 2.7 RPG; 37.9% 3PT.

A connecting wing who can stretch the floor and help keep American’s offense balanced around Collins and Jones.

10. Jalen Vazquez — Lehigh

Statistical context: Senior guard; 2026-27 roster confirmed.

A key candidate to assume greater perimeter responsibility after Nasir Whitlock’s departure. The degree of that expanded role is a projection, not a reported coaching decision.

What to watch

Alvey and Alekseyenko have the clearest cases for the league’s top individual honor, but the gap is not insurmountable. Collins can climb if his efficiency improves, Jones has a rare defensive case, and Alexander’s return to his prior all-league level would transform BU’s ceiling. The final four selections carry more projection risk than the top six and should be revisited when verified opening-week rotations become available.

Sources and methodology

Statistical figures for Alvey, Alekseyenko, Collins, Jones and Alexander are from the Patriot League’s October 1, 2026 preseason announcement. Alexander’s figures are explicitly from 2024-25. Other player context is from the 2026-27 Blue Ribbon Yearbook and official 2026-27 Lehigh and Colgate rosters. MMH does not treat preseason honors as the sole ranking criterion.
